The Lady and the New Girl from 23rd Street

It's true, I used to say really nasty things about this little upstart of a building that you can see to the right of the ESB (The Lady). But two things have changed. The building is starting to look kind of cool and it's impossibly tall and thin. In fact, I'm pretty sure that as soon as it gets some heft in the upper floors, the first strong wind will knock her over. Bye!

The other reason I don't care any more is that I am moving April 30th. I don't know to where but I'm pretty sure I won't be able to see The Lady (or any other sign of Manhattan) from wherever I can afford. So, New Girl from 23rd Street, do your stuff. I just don't care because no matter what you do, The Lady will always be classier, better looking, and capable of withstanding a plane wreck in her side. And as of April 30th, you will no longer be obstructing my view.

Kips Bay Movie Theater

The Lowes/AMC movie theater in Kips Bay has some problems (some theaters have poor sight lines and bad seating) but it does get the award for Best View of the Empire State Building from Any NYC Movie Theater.

Multi-Colored

MSNBC reports on the colors sported by the Empire State Building: different sides represent the two teams competing in the Superbowl.

The image above was found on Flickr and is NOT how the building is lit for the Superbowl but is a great depiction of how cool the multi-colored theme can look. The image can be seen on Flickr here. I am assuming that the name on the photo is the name of the person who took the photo.
